Dear friends, it was lovely to see so many of you tonight. We sat for about 30 mins. I am curious to know how it was for you. Questions are welcome. As I said I will be away next week so we are canceling the meditation on Monday May14th. We will resume the following week. There will be no meditation on Memorial Day. Warmly, Alison
I am finding that the meditation time is gradually becoming helpful in relaxing the tension and tight holding in my body and as a result helping ease some of the pain I experience.
ReplyDeleteTonight, during the meditation, there were times that I could feel waves of relaxation flow through my body. Then my mind would wander and when I came back to the breathing I would notice that my body had tensed up again, but that concentrating on the breathing would help ease that tension.
I also feel like the meditation helps to establish a 'link' to my inner being. It seems to clear out the cacophony of the day and create a sense of calm within.
It is interesting to notice the connection between thinking/distraction and the body tensing up. While we meditate we are deeply challenging this tendency to move into thinking, into separation and tension. Its not a bad tendency; it is what mind does and will continue to do. So its not about making distraction bad, but using the waking up to the distraction as an opportunity to return to the breathing, to the living now.
